How to Find Government Documents

Government documents are located on the north end of the first floor in the west wing of the library. To find a government document in the McKay Library use the Library Catalog. You can search by title, author, subject or general keyword. The catalog has a "limiting fields" feature that you can use to limit your search to government publications. If you need help using this feature please ask at any of the information desks.

Government documents are increasingly available online. We have established a number of links to search engines and government sites under five broad categories:

1. U.S. Government Sites and Publications
   Provides links to sites such as FirstGov and FindLaw as well as the US Government Printing Office.
2. U.S. Federal
   Provides links to the official sites of federal departments and agencies.
3. U.S. Statistics
   Provides links to sites such as the Census and Labor Bureaus.
4. State and Local
   Provides links to government sites for all 50 states.
5. Additional Resources
   Provides links to sites for the United Nations, National Parks, U.S. Constitution, etc.
